Preliminary Exam Syllabus

The Preliminary Exam is divided into three subjects: General Studies, General Science & Mathematics, and Logical Reasoning.

General Studies: This section tests candidates on current affairs, history, geography, polity, economy, and general awareness. It includes topics like significant national and international events, Bihar’s history, physical and political geography, the Indian Constitution, Panchayati Raj, public policy, and Indian economic issues. Static GK, including important institutions, awards, and government schemes, is also covered.

General Science and Mathematics: General Science includes topics from physics, chemistry, and biology with an emphasis on everyday applications and environmental science. Mathematics covers number systems, LCM and HCF, ratios, percentages, simple and compound interest, profit and loss, time and work, algebra, geometry, mensuration, trigonometry, probability, and statistics. Questions are conceptual and require practical problem-solving skills.

Logical Reasoning: This section includes questions on verbal and non-verbal reasoning, such as coding-decoding, syllogisms, blood relations, inequalities, puzzles, seating arrangements, and series completion. Mental ability questions test decision-making, problem-solving, and pattern recognition.


Main Exam Syllabus

The Main Exam consists of two papers: General Hindi (Paper 1) and a combined paper for General Studies, Mathematics, and Logical Reasoning (Paper 2).

General Hindi (Paper 1): This section evaluates candidates’ proficiency in Hindi grammar and comprehension. It includes topics like Sandhi, Samas, Ras, Alankar, synonyms, antonyms, idioms, phrases, and sentence correction.
